These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Splitt (the "Service"). You agree to them when you create a bill, join a bill from a shared link, or create an account, whichever comes first. You don't need an account to be bound by them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these Terms.
Splitt is operated by Aran Reddy, from South Africa. Address: 168 Bellairs Dr, Northriding, Randburg, 2169. Contact: support@splitt.co.za.
Splitt helps groups split a bill and keep track of who owes what. You enter a bill or scan a receipt, choose how to split it (equally, by percentage, or by claiming items), and Splitt calculates each person's share. Splitt does not process payments, hold funds, or move money between users. Settling up happens directly between the people on the bill, outside the Service. Marking someone "settled" in Splitt is a note you keep, not a payment instruction.
You can create or join a bill with just a name. Guest access is tied to the browser and device you use. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, you may lose access to bills you made as a guest. Create an account if you want to keep them. Under our retention policy, guest names on a bill are replaced with placeholders after a while (see the Privacy Policy).
You can create an account with an email and password, or sign in with Google or Apple. Keep your login details secure; you're responsible for activity under your account. Please give accurate information when you register.
When you add other people to a bill, use a first name or nickname, and only add people who were actually part of the bill. You're responsible for the names and amounts you enter for them. Don't add information about other people beyond what's needed to split the bill.
Anyone with a bill's share link and table code can view the bill and, where enabled, claim items on it. You're responsible for who you share them with. When you upload a receipt photo, you confirm you're allowed to share it. You may cover card numbers or other details you'd rather not upload.
You agree not to:
Splitt calculates shares from what you and others enter, including amounts read automatically from receipt photos. Automatic receipt reading can make mistakes, so check items and totals before relying on them. We're not responsible for disputes between people about who owes what, or for losses caused by incorrect entries, misread receipts or wrong tip amounts.
Because Splitt doesn't process payments, we're not a party to, and accept no liability for, any payment between users.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Splitt without owing you anything.
The Splitt name, logo and software belong to Splitt. You may not copy, modify or redistribute them without our permission.
Splitt is offered free of charge at the moment, and we may change, pause or discontinue features. We may suspend or remove access, bills or accounts that break these Terms. You can stop using Splitt at any time and ask us to delete your account.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have that cannot legally be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, where it applies.
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
We may update these Terms. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, if you have an account, show you a notice in the app. If you keep using Splitt after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
